The Book of Caesar: Chapters 1 & 2

Before you begin, understand what this is and what it is not. This is not a political manifesto, a call to rebellion, or a complaint about the state of the world. It is a diagnostic. The pages that follow examine the machinery of systems—laws, narratives, authority, and the agreements that allow them to function. Written in a simple verse format meant to be read slowly, these chapters invite the reader to observe patterns rather than argue with them. The style is intentional: part philosophy, part mirror, and pretty fun to read. For when complex things are made visible in simple language, something interesting happens—the fog begins to lift. Seeing how systems operate can reduce the feeling of being trapped inside them. In that clarity, victim consciousness has less room to grow, and personal agency has more room to breathe. Read with curiosity, pause when something rings true, and remember: understanding the bullshit machinery does not destroy it, but it does change how you stand within it.

CHAPTER 1

Give Unto Caesar

1:1 And the people said: We have been given many things by the system.
And a voice replied: Look again, and see whether they were given, or merely claimed.

1:2 For there is a difference between what a man owns and what a man merely asserts dominion over.

Selah.

1:3 Therefore give unto Caesar what is Caesar’s.

1:4 Give unto Caesar his birthdays and the numbers he assigns to mark thy existence.

1:5 For the birthday is second-hand information, written by others upon a fictional calendar, and repeated until it feels like memory.

1:6 Give unto Caesar the calendar itself, for it divides the endless present into boxes and sells the boxes back to thee as time.

Selah.

1:7 Give unto Caesar his paper identity and the name he wrote upon thee without thy consent.

1:8 Give unto Caesar his fiat currency, for it is ink pretending to be substance.

1:9 Give unto Caesar his codes and statutes, which multiply like weeds in a garden no one planted.

Selah.

1:10 Give unto Caesar his licenses and permissions, for that which is natural requires no permit.

1:11 Give unto Caesar his debts written in ledgers of assumption.

1:12 Give unto Caesar his courts of theater where men argue over meanings while truth waits outside the building.

1:13 Give unto Caesar his narratives, spun like thread around events until the events themselves disappear.

Selah.

1:14 Give unto Caesar his emergencies, for the machine feeds well upon urgency.

1:15 Give unto Caesar his fears, for fear is the tax he collects before all others.

1:16 Give unto Caesar his definitions of success and failure, for they measure shadows and call it weight.

1:17 Give unto Caesar his borrowed authority and the uniforms that perform it.

Selah.

1:18 Give unto Caesar the illusion that he governs the thoughts of men.

1:19 Give unto Caesar the obedience that is born of confusion.

1:20 Give unto Caesar the theater of control, which requires constant performance lest the audience notice the stage.

Selah.

1:21 And having returned all these things, a strange quiet shall appear.

1:22 For a man who has given back illusions stands only with what cannot be taken.

1:23 And what cannot be taken requires no permission to exist.

Selah.

CHAPTER 2

What Is Not Caesar’s

2:1 And when the people had returned to Caesar the things he claimed, they asked: What then remains?

2:2 And the voice replied: That which was never his to claim.

Selah.

2:3 For Caesar may number thee, but he does not create thee.

2:4 Caesar may record thy birth, yet he did not bring thee forth.

2:5 Caesar may assign thee a name, yet he did not form the mind that answers to it.

Selah.

2:6 Thy breath is not Caesar’s.

2:7 Thy thoughts are not Caesar’s.

2:8 Thy awareness of the present moment is not Caesar’s, for it exists before his clocks begin counting.

Selah.

2:9 Thy curiosity is not Caesar’s, for no statute ever produced a question.

2:10 Thy capacity to learn is not Caesar’s, though many systems attempt to license it.

2:11 Thy ability to create is not Caesar’s, though many institutions attempt to patent it.

Selah.

2:12 Thy love for thy children is not Caesar’s.

2:13 Thy loyalty to thy neighbors is not Caesar’s.

2:14 Thy willingness to help a stranger is not Caesar’s.

Selah.

2:15 The soil that feeds thee is not Caesar’s.

2:16 The rain that waters the soil is not Caesar’s.

2:17 The sunlight that wakes the seed is not Caesar’s.

Selah.

2:18 The present moment is not Caesar’s, though he divides it into years and sells them back to thee as calendars.

2:19 Truth is not Caesar’s, though many courts attempt to declare it.

2:20 Reality is not Caesar’s, though many narratives attempt to replace it.

Selah.

2:21 For a strange thing happens when a man remembers what is not Caesar’s.

2:22 The machine grows quieter.

2:23 And the man discovers he was never standing inside it.

Selah.
